KitchenAid's stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 250 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough; the 4-1/2-quart bowl can hold up to 8 cups of flour, which translates into as many as 192 sweet treats. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solid in construction and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist; untwisting them is a bit trickier because the attachment stems are short and can be hard to grasp, especially if they get the least bit greasy. The bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing 14 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off. I am very pleased with this product. Even though it was more than I wanted to spend, it seemed a bargain compared with spending $100 on another product that may or may not work. We have made a very sticky batter with this mixer, and it handled it fine. Other households in our extended family also have been happy with this product.

We have been completely satisfied with this mixer. We were initially concerned if the 4.5 quart would be big enough, but it has easily handled everything we have thrown at it. The bowl is very easy to clean.

I bought this mixer as a Christmas present for myself. I opened it up, used it to beat egg whites, and the motor died! It has a 1 year unlimited warranty so I called Kitchen Aid that day and they sent a replacement. I just dropped off the broken one (shipping paid by them) with FedEx. No drama, no nonsense. I received my replacement in less than a week and it works like the first one should have! As far as Amazon.com's involvement - Their shipping was quick, and I chose the free shipping option. I love amazon.

I found my Kitchen Aid at a garage sale, believe it or not My older sister has always had one (since the early '70s) and I was somewhat envious of hers.
Mine is so old it probably made food and bread for the builders of the Pyramids. I think it's Harvest Gold or some other horrible '70s color but from day one she's worked like a champ!
I've turned people to the Kitchen Aid mixer and feel it's the absolute best money you could spend on a small appliances. The newer ones have attachments you can get that do everything except dress your kid (LOL)!
They are heavy, so make room on your counter. Heavy is good!
The best part of a Kitchen Aid? Their customer service is wonderful!! Really helpful, outstanding folks. When I bought mine, I needed to get a new paddle blade (it came with the original whisk attachment). I called the folks at Kitchen Aid and they told me all the stuff they STILL carried for my model!! "Yours isn't the oldest model we get questions for, " the nice rep said.
(And no, I don't work for them.)
I bought mine used about 5 years ago and use it every week. I make cookies, mix meatloaf, whip mashed potatoes, etc. I am Bread Challenged but I understand it's great for that as well.
I'd get a new one in a New York Heartbeat if this one dies, although I think I could send it back to the factory and they'd repair it.
Still made in America (thank you, Kitchen Aid!) and I recommend this mixer with no hesitation.
If I told you what I paid for mine, you'd die. Suffice to say, it is my best Garage Sale find EVER!
